Was shot in the hand and leg and severely injured while taking down her washing at home in Bophelong, Vanderbijlpark, Transvaal, on 21 March 1992. Conflict between ANC and IFP supporters resulted in random attacks on homes and people. Ms Pitso’s husband was also injured when he tried to help her. Ms Pitso had her leg amputated as a result of her injuries.
