Was severely beaten by Bophuthatswana Policemen on 1 July 1989 in Leeuwfontein near Zeerust, Tvl because he resisted the forceful incorporation of Mokgola village into Bophuthatswana. About 25 000 residents were transfered from South Africa into Bophuthatswana during 1989, which resulted in a state of siege and harassment by Bophuthatswana Police and civilians who supported the homeland government.
